A new $6 million lifestyle boat is helping propel the Brisbane River in establishing itself as a venue in its own right as the city forges towards the 2032 Olympics.The river is the main artery of the state’s capital, already weaving its way alongside some of the city’s main venues and party precincts.But its own reputation as an entertainment hotspot is growing with the launch of the latest multimillion dollar floating venue, Oasis, this month.
The $6 million lifestyle and cruising boat has been custom-designed for the river, taking up a permanent residency on the water from April 19.It was given the seal of approval by Brisbane fashionista Miné Coetser who was one the first to tour Oasis in its final stage of construction, celebrating in a new season look from Brisbane label White label Noba.
The boat has a Mediterranean-style over three levels and will offer private functions, day and night cruises.
“Each level is completely different aesthetically, our designers have been hard at work for over a year to create this magnificent masterpiece that we’re about to unveil,” managing partner David Auld said.
Mr Auld made the strategic decision to expand his party vessel enterprise into Queensland after successful stints on the Brisbane River in 2017 and 2018 with his Sydney-based vessel Seadeck.“The market up here was great,” he said.
“I liked the city, I liked the people and I think it’s a good place for growth.”Oasis will join several other party and pleasure cruising options on the river, with plans afoot to unlock even more floating transport options ahead of Brisbane’s 2032 Olympics.
Lord Adrian Schrinner in February revealed he would support a commercial water taxi service or charter service in the river to link Pinkenba’s cruise ship terminal to entertainment precincts like Howard Smith Wharves, Queen’s Wharf and South Bank.
